Colour Me Beautiful
As sunlight dances on your treasured face, I’m more and more aware that my love for you can never be skin-deep. How else can I explain my sudden urge to hear your silken voice dive down to lost Atlantis? Swept away on your words, I’ll float in oceans of blue, swim through shades of indigo and wash up on sandy shores.
Laying here, side-by-side in green grass swaying, I long to crawl beneath your sunkissed skin and find the riddles carved into the ivory of your bones; trace the lines of whispering poetry until I fade to be like the oxygen in your being.
Like the wind, I want to ride the soft crackling thunder of your laughter and wrap its essence around my shoulders to keep me warm in the myriad hues of velvet night; a ghost of your loving arms when you’re not dreaming next to me.
More than anything I wish to become one with the songs that flow through your veins, travelling head to toe, fuelling the cherished depths of your crimson heart; I yearn to be lost in that nev

Bird of Imagination
Brushing up against my insides, there’s a sensation of feathers. Warm, and soft, tentatively stretching towards a new light dawning. It flutters playfully, slightly teasing, daring me to come closer and explore.
     Thoughts begin to wake.
Stirring from its secret place of hibernation, the little thing lifts its head. Eyes growing clear as life takes hold; an internal flame glowing continually brighter. Shapes unfold, colours sway, and words seem to tumble onto my fingertips, waiting to be written down — on the heartbeat of possibilities, my horizon expands.
     Ideas begin to grow.
Eye on the sky, my imaginary friend tries its wings for size; with gentle baby-steps we shimmy to the edge, discarding places without second thought, until we suddenly feel the pull and jump — a leap of faith.
No experience is ever the same; it’s like music heard for the very first time, touched by a nostalgic wealth of homecoming.

Magic of Venice
She twists and turns, graciously, through an ocean of gathered souls; her body moving to the rhythm of a playful band that is never seen but only heard.
Night is dawning, and stars shimmer on vaulted ceilings of velvet blue; age-old diamonds burning their fires from a place beyond the wheels of time.
The air is heavy with fragrance; colognes of him, perfumes of her, and adding to them, the intoxicating aroma of scented candles; lanterns lighting up the streets in festive, colourful splendour.
Lost to another world, enchanted by this place; she dances.
Surrounding her, faces are hidden behind golden façades, and she never knows if she sways from fiend to lover; the silken gown caressing her body as boldly as the Joker’s wild grin — who watches her from afar.
Waves of teasing hands push her closer to his reach; his eyes behind the mask undressing her with every move, eagerly shining with appreciation, and a kindling of desire.

We might hide in terror of the sunlight
But we thrife in the moonlight
The sunlight would blind us
As it illuminates too much
We would see the things we hide within ourselves
Because we ourselves are afraid of it
Because we get overwhelmed by it
But the moonlight shines just enough
To show only a small part of it
Or if shined upon by a photographers red light
Like photographs, we will develop
Until we are able to accept what's inside
And are able to expose that true beauty
That was hidden inside

Kiyo is the creator of her own publications that combine imagery and words, like her illustrated art & poetry book, Dreamscape. She shares three visual poetry series online weekly; the Micro Poetry, Haiku and About Love Series. Mostly written in free-form, they are pieces inspired by nature, philosophy, day-to-day thoughts and emotions. Next to poetry, she also enjoys writing Poetic Prose in the shapes of micro fiction and short stories, her works sparked by the many facets of life, and often touched with a hint of fantasy.

On deviantART, Kiyo can also be found on her personal account, the Lady-Yume, where she often uploads poetry in response to prompts (some eventually finding their way into her visual series here), contests and other pieces.

BOOK DreamscapePoetryEd Cover by Kiyo-Poetry

Hello everyone,

In November of 2017 I released my art & poetry book, Dreamscape, an illustrated journey in art and poetry,
which is filled with 26 works of original fantasy art and a wide variety of poems.

Today I can happily announce the accompanying new release of the poetry edition!;
Dreamscape, a poetic journey through life' encounters

This poetic edition focuses solely on the inspirational words and includes the same rich variety of poems, ranging
from haiku to free-form pieces. Additionally, it features an extension of twenty not previously before published poems;
A small bonus for an even longer... escape.

“Lightweight strangers fly through my wild, curious mind — Imagery breathes life.”

You are invited on a poetic journey of chasing goals, wishes and daydreams, late nighttime ponderings, and staying strong
in those moments of falling down and getting up again, holding on to the valid courage to keep believing in yourself.

This poetic version comes published in both hard- and softcover, measuring approximately 13 x 20 cm (5 x 8 inch),
with 156 black & white pages. Secondly, it is also available as an epub eBook version for your pads and e-readers,
so you can take it with you wherever you may wish to go.

Simultaneously, I can also share that the visual edition, Dreamscape, an illustrated journey in art and poetry,
is now available in both hard- and softcover! It is still sold through Netherlands-based Boekenbestellen,
and as of now also through America-based Blurb, which delivers internationally and with the same vibrant quality.

For all further purchase links, I once more forward you to the new Books page, where you can find all the additional info (:

And in Other News

Last but not least, I'd like to take a small moment to highlight what has been been, for me, a rather eventful
lit-related weekend, with my haiku "Velvet Heights" receiving the honour of a Daily Deviation on May 11th,
and my piece "Look, She Blossoms" (on my personal account, Lady-Yume, soon to added to the Micro Poetry series),
being awarded with the first place prize in LadyLincoln's Spring Melodies contest!

As can be expected, I still feel quite overwhelmed and humbled, but also incredibly happy to learn that people
— yes, I mean you! — enjoy my works like this, and makes it a treat to continue on sharing my words

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to read and visit my profile.
Have anything to share or ask; drop me a line, I'd love to hear from you.

Love, Kiyo (Kiyo-Poetry / Lady-Yume)
